Amid growing concerns around mining activities in Guinea, Action Mines Guinée has released its annual monitoring report on the impacts of the Simandou Project on local communities.
Presented during a press conference held in Conakry on March 6, 2026, the report provides a concerning overview based on field observations and firsthand testimonies from affected populations.
From agricultural land pollution and structural damage to homes, to disruptions in fishing activities, the report highlights a range of ongoing impacts that continue to undermine local livelihoods. It also points to persistent challenges in ensuring that commitments made by project stakeholders are fully respected.
Beyond documenting these issues, the report aims to foster constructive dialogue between communities, public authorities, and companies involved in the project, with a view to promoting more responsible and inclusive natural resource management.
